What's the best motherboard for Intel's Core i7-10700K? This question might sound like it's easier to answer than it actually is, but when you look at the many motherboard options out there today, you'll soon realize that this question can be pretty tricky to answer. Sure, you could just pick the cheapest motherboard out there, but what if it doesn't have everything that you need? What if it doesn't support your processor, or worse yet, what if it has other issues that cause stability problems? For this reason, it's important to consider all of your options before settling on one specific motherboard.
ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
Designed with gamers in mind, ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING is a mini motherboard that fits all major components of an average computer system while still keeping them small and compact. The only slight problem with some of these motherboards is that they do not support AMD Ryzen Threadripper. If you are using a Threadripper you may have to find another model from ASUS. This board will support up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM, offers speeds up to 3200Mhz, and has six SATA ports along with USB3.1 Type A and Type C ports on it. All of these features come at a reasonable price, but we’ll get into those details in a minute.
ASRock Z370 Pro4
While it may not have all of the bells and whistles as its more expensive competitors, ASRock’s Z370 Pro4 is a solid motherboard at a great price. It comes with four RAM slots supporting up to 64GB of DDR4 memory, six SATA 6Gb/s ports, an M.2 slot, and supports overclocking. Some reviewers criticized its lack of USB 3.1 support but if you’re not planning on using multiple USB 3.1 ports you won’t notice that feature missing too much; after all most external hard drives still use USB 2.0. If you want a reliable motherboard without breaking your budget, look no further than ASRock’s Z370 Pro4.
GIGABYTE Z370 HD3
If you’re looking to build an Intel gaming PC, your first step should be a GIGABYTE Z370 HD3 motherboard. The HD3 in its name stands for high definition, and that’s exactly what it delivers. This is one of several boards GIGABYTE manufactures with a focus on gaming. It’s packed with performance features that help your PC keep up with the most demanding applications while simultaneously maximizing your gaming experience.
MSI H370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
The MSI H370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is a great choice if you want a motherboard that is easy to use and will get you into PC gaming fast. It has all of what you need out of a modern motherboard without any unnecessary extras that add cost or complexity. It doesn’t have overclock support, but it does offer two M.2 slots with one of them being located in an ideal spot for PCIe SSDs. If you are on a budget and don’t want to spend extra money on features you won’t be using, then MSI H370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is your best choice.
MSI H370M Bazooka
The MSI H370M Bazooka is one of MSI’s best cheap motherboards for mid-range computers. It is pretty basic, but it has everything you need to get your computer up and running. It has a few SATA ports, USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, six fan headers (which is more than you typically see on budget boards), and a couple of RGB LED light strips that help to keep your build looking sleek. Also, if you have an older computer case that doesn’t have enough USB ports or preinstalled header connectors, it includes two plastic risers so you can install USB 2.0 headers where they aren’t already installed on your motherboard—which makes installing additional peripheral devices easier and helps to keep your case tidy.
ASUS PRIME Z370-P II
ASUS' Z370-P II features a solid number of SATA ports, which is good if you want to connect multiple hard drives. It has four fan headers that should be able to handle your cooling needs and an M.2 slot that allows you to quickly add in an SSD (which is important because it'll dramatically speed up your computer). There are three PCIe slots and a single USB 3.1 Gen 2 port (with a Type C connector), making it one of our favorite boards on paper. It isn't without its flaws, though, as there are only two DIMM slots; if you're planning on using more than 16GB of RAM then you'll need to double-check before buying.
MSI Z370 PC Pro
The MSI Z370 PC Pro is currently one of my favorite motherboards. I enjoy that it’s one of few boards on the market with a digital RGB LED ambient light feature and its heat sinks are easy to clean. The motherboard can support six SATA ports and four PCIe x16 slots while offering a variety of display outputs and several fan headers, making it a reliable option if you’re looking to build a DIY PC system. The board also offers six USB 3.1 Gen1 ports as well as three USB 2.0 ports, making it a good choice if you need to attach various peripherals or external storage devices quickly.
ASRock Z370 Taichi LGA 1151 ATX
This motherboard is currently priced at $159.99 and features a full package of integrated features, along with an aesthetic design that integrates RGB lighting. This motherboard comes equipped with an M.2 Shield, which reduces temperatures by up to 13°C, as well as a Thermal Guard made from a copper alloy that provides better cooling support and reduced temperatures of up to 20°C. This board is compatible with 2x 300Mhz Ultra M.2 slots, two 2x 3 10Gbps USB 3 ports, and six 6Gbps SATA ports. The Z370 Taichi also offers excellent protection against electric surges and power abnormalities via its unique Smart Ear chip, which makes sure your data remains safe during power failures or shorted PSU operation.
MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Plus
The MPG Z390 Gaming Plus has a lot of features that make it ideal for gamers, like 2X FireWire connectors and improved audio. But, if you’re looking for even more ways to optimize your PC gaming experience, there are many other features that might appeal to you. It has an M.2 Gen3 x4 slot capable of 10Gbps data transfer speeds; two USB 3.1 ports capable of 10Gbps speeds; a U.2 port (with x4 PCI Express connectivity); MSI Mystic Light RGB support; Killer LAN E2500 networking capability; built-in USB DAC amp support; and high-quality onboard audio amps capable of studio-quality sound (192kHz / 24 bit) output.
